At last she crawled over the swaying floor to her bed, and lay down upon it; and Toto followed and lay down beside her.

In spite of the swaying of the house and the wailing of the wind, Dorothy soon closed her eyes and fell fast asleep.

2. The Council with the Munchkins (Совещание с Манчкинами; council — совет; совещание)

She was awakened by a shock (она проснулась от толчка: «она была разбужена толчком»; to awake — будить; shock — удар, толчок), so sudden and severe (такого внезапного и сильного; severe — строгий, суровый; сильный) that if Dorothy had not been lying on the soft bed (что, если бы Дороти не лежала на мягкой постели) she might have been hurt (она могла бы ушибиться: «быть ушибленной»; to hurt — причинить боль, ранить; ушибить).

As it was, the jar made her catch her breath (а так: «как оно было», от удара у нее перехватило дыхание: «толчок заставил ее задержать дыхание»; jar — неприятный, резкий, дребезжащий звук; дрожание, сотрясение; to catch breath — задержать дыхание) and wonder what had happened (и /ей стало/ интересно, что же случилось); and Toto put his cold little nose into her face and whined dismally (а Тото /стал/ тыкать своим холодным носиком: «маленьким носом» ей в лицо и жалобно скулить; dismally — угнетающе, зловеще; печально, уныло).

Dorothy sat up and noticed that the house was not moving (Дороти села /на кровати/ и заметила, что дом /больше/ не двигается); nor was it dark (также /больше/ не было темно), for the bright sunshine came in at the window, flooding the little room (так как яркий солнечный свет падал через окно, заливая /собою/ маленькую комнату; to flood — заливать, затоплять; заполнять).

She sprang from her bed (она спрыгнула с кровати; to spring) and with Toto at her heels ran and opened the door (и побежала /к двери/, и Тото следовал за ней по пятам, и распахнула дверь; heel — пятка; at smb.'s heels — по пятам, следом за кем-либо; to run — бежать).

The little girl gave a cry of amazement and looked about her (маленькая девочка издала крик изумления и посмотрела вокруг себя = изумленно вскрикнула и огляделась), her eyes growing bigger and bigger at the wonderful sights she saw (ее глаза становились все больше и больше от того удивительного зрелища, которое она увидела; sight — зрение; вид, зрелище).
